Alaknanda Institute for Performing Arts (AIPA) was established in 1990 with the sole purpose of promoting pure classical art and culture to the society. Since then, Alaknanda Institute for Performing Arts has been successfully pursuing this vision for over two decades. The institute has earned the reputation of being a devoted professional academy and also for training disciples into scholarship holders in the field of kathak, hindustani vocal music, tabla, guitar, keyboard and fine arts.
The institute is affiliated to Akhil Bharatiaya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai and also prides in being the examination centre for the East Delhi zone. The performing arts section under the Gandharva degree include kathak, hindustani vocal music, tabla and keyboard. The fine arts department is affiliated to Bangiya Sangeeet Kala Kendra, Kolkata. The aim of the institute is not just to facilitate the students with the degrees but to give them the real essence of the art styles.
Promoting guru - Shishya Parampara
The institute firmly believes in teaching the pure forms of art and infusing the culture of 'Guru-Shishya Parampara' (teacher-student tradition). This tradition is an epitome of offering infinite gratitude to the guru and his / her efforts in moulding a student into a devoted and knowledgeable individual. Every year 'Guru Purnima' is celebrated, to appreciate, strengthen and formally recognize this relationship. Thus, following the institute's vision of creating an environment focused on training with principles, which is the basis of learning any Indian art forms. Additionally, the institute provides a platform for all the students to showcase their talents.
"Guru Bhakt Aaruni", a ballet based on the 'Guru Shishya' relationship - an important phase in a student life while undergoing an extensive training of existence, was presented by young and talented dancers and singers from our institute, thus giving the audience the 'Rasa' of our vibrant culture. Ballet - 'Ratnakar Valmiki', too, was widely appreciated by the audience and critics."Mahisasur Mardini-Durga" presented on the eve of Durga puja and Krishna leela made an impact on the audience and the media.
